A Plug Valve is a quarter-turn rotary valve used to control or isolate the flow of liquids and gases in pipelines. It uses a cylindrical or tapered plug with a hole (port) inside it. When the hole aligns with the pipeline, fluid flows through; when the plug rotates 90°, the flow stops.
Plug valves are widely used in oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical processing, and refinery systems due to their simple design and reliable sealing.
The valve contains a plug-shaped rotating element inside the valve body.
The plug has a passage (port) through it.
When the plug is aligned with the pipe, the valve is open.
When rotated 90 degrees, the passage blocks the flow and the valve is closed.
This quarter-turn operation makes plug valves quick and easy to operate.
