A Safety Valve is a critical pressure-relief device used in the oil and gas industry to protect equipment, pipelines, and pressure vessels from overpressure conditions. When pressure inside a system exceeds a preset limit, the safety valve automatically opens to release excess pressure and prevent equipment damage, explosion, or accidents.

Purpose of a Safety Valve

Safety valves are installed to:

  • Protect pressure vessels, boilers, pipelines, and compressors

  • Prevent overpressure buildup

  • Ensure plant and personnel safety

  • Maintain system pressure within safe limits

If pressure exceeds the set pressure, the valve opens automatically and releases fluid (gas, steam, or liquid).
